Content/Medical Disclaimer

The information contained on any Seattle Dizzy Group web page or online forum (including comments, articles, blog posts, speaker presentations, meeting notes, and links, etc.), content of documents/hand-outs/materials, and what is shared at in-person Seattle Dizzy Group meetings and activities reflects personal viewpoints and opinions which should not be taken as medical or legal advice.  Likewise, content is not meant to contradict or replace the knowledge or recommendations of your doctor.  For proper medical guidance, Seattle Dizzy Group strongly advises that you consult a qualified health care professional for clinical examination, diagnosis, and treatment.  Seattle Dizzy Group does not endorse or guarantee the accuracy of opinions, information, or content (including that of linked websites). Seattle Dizzy Group participants are expected to comply with all guidelines/policies which are meant to provide and maintain a safe, comfortable, and supportive environment.

Group Guidelines/Policies

  • Facilitators lead group meetings and activities where all participants have equal voice and opportunity for involvement.
  • Respect and listen to each other.
  • Consider impact on others when sharing and participating.
  • Maintain privacy and confidentiality of participants and discussions.

Please use discretion regarding proper conduct and appropriate language/content. Be sensitive to others who may not have the same opinion or feelings. Be honest about personal and medical experiences without being overly negative or bashing doctors/clinicians. Etc.

Friends and family are always welcome to accompany dizzy loved ones.

Inappropriate, offensive, or disruptive behavior, and/or slandering, threatening, over-pursuing, stalking, or harassing, etc. any Seattle Dizzy Group participant(s) at any time is not allowed.

Participants must not use Seattle Dizzy Group for personal agendas or gain, to solicit or recruit, or to promote other organizations, groups/clubs, events, websites, or products, etc.

Participants are expected to maintain confidentiality and keep meeting content private.

Any personal contact information shared with Seattle Dizzy Group is kept strictly confidential unless express consent is given to share the information with others.

Seattle Dizzy Group strives to provide a safe, comfortable, and supportive environment. Participants willingly accept any potential risk and agree to hold Seattle Dizzy Group, its leadership, members, volunteers, speakers/presenters, and contributors, etc. blameless and not liable for any possible harm or damages that may result from participation.

Online Group Guidelines/Policies

Participants of any Seattle Dizzy Group online forum are expected to comply with all group guidelines/policies and use discretion regarding conduct, content, and language. Seattle Dizzy Group reserves the right to add, change, or remove online content at any time without notice. Any inappropriate or offensive content or information not approved by Seattle Dizzy Group may be removed from online pages or forums. Visiting/accessing any Seattle Dizzy Group web page constitutes acceptance of required compliance with all group guidelines/policies and acceptance that all online content is the property of Seattle Dizzy Group.  Use or transmittal of any Seattle Dizzy Group content/property is not permitted without prior written consent.  Anyone who violates group guidelines/policies online or who abuses or exploits any Seattle Dizzy Group online forum (i.e. spamming, posting inappropriate information/comments, using for personal agendas/gain, soliciting or recruiting, or promoting other organizations, groups/clubs, events, websites, or products, etc.) may be removed and blocked without warning from all Seattle Dizzy Group online pages and forums.

Group Policy Compliance

Participation in Seattle Dizzy Group, including the use of any web page or online forum, constitutes acceptance of  required compliance with all group guidelines/policies which are meant to provide and maintain a safe, comfortable, and supportive environment.  We trust that Seattle Dizzy Group participants will properly respect group guidelines and fully comply with all group policies so that compliance issues will be rare.

Violations of group guidelines/policies causing complaints from others in the group will be taken seriously and may result in suspension or expulsion in order to protect the best interest of the group as a whole.  Suspension terms and duration and/or expulsion decisions are determined by group leadership on a case-by-case basis.  During suspension, attending Seattle Dizzy Group support group meetings, participating in group activities, or communicating online with the group via email/web pages/forums is prohibited.  Any violation of the terms of the suspension will result in immediate expulsion, including additional complaints reported by others in the group.  At the end of the suspension, group leadership will send notice regarding next steps:  i.e. returning to active participation, possible extension of the suspension, or expulsion.  Suspended persons must not participate again in any Seattle Dizzy Group meetings or activities or communicate online with the group until receiving written notice from group leadership.  Anyone expelled from Seattle Dizzy Group will be removed and blocked from all Seattle Dizzy Group online forums and web pages and must have no further contact with Seattle Dizzy Group or its participants.  Likewise, others in the group should also have no further contact with any expelled individuals in order to protect the safety and best interest of the group.

Seattle Dizzy Group is an independent and self-supporting not-for-profit group that is organized by volunteers and funded through donations. (www.seattledizzygroup.org/donate)

The Seattle Dizziness and Balance Disorders Support Group is privately owned and autonomous and is not sponsored by any organization or meeting location.  Ownership/property includes all associated content, information, contacts, designs, concepts, photos/images, resources/materials, merchandise, donations, accounts, web domains, online pages/forums, blogs, email addresses, etc. as well as all protected trademarks/copyrights (including nickname “Seattle Dizzy Group” acronym “SDG” slogan “Wear Blue for Balance” event “Walk for Balance” and event slogan “Walk a Mile in Dizzy Shoes” etc.). Use or transmittal of any Seattle Dizzy Group properties is not permitted without prior written consent.
